If you want documentation on backup and RMAN why do you post this in "Networking and Gateways" forum and not "Backup & Recovery" which purpose is "Oracle Backup and Recovery - RMAN, User Managed Backups, Oracle Secure Backup (OSB), OSB Express, etc."?

What about having a look at Oracle documentation and papers:
