You can download Oracle 10g XE (database) and SQL Developer (query tool) on otn.oracle.com

You can also create a workspace on apex.oracle.com and work with it.

Michel

One of the very important parts of learning Oracle (or any programming tool/language for that matter) is to learn to search.
Almost any question you can come up with has been asked and answered before on the web.

i hav spent many hours on net ,before posting in this forum
the fact is i m very new to sql, therefore doesnt know terms associated with it,thats y search results are not good
first i installed mysql, later found out it had diff syntax than oracle commnds
thn intalled oracmd, but it reqires connection to server
thn installed razorsql.but it also requires connection

i know oracle has an option of creating database on hardisk itself,i m looking for an option like this

in oracle 10g xe's manual it requires log in on homepage, but where is home page?
in query tool ,i choose "query disconnected" ,but whn i try to execute ,it asks for a data source, how to create that?

i just want to get started ,plz write a lilttle explanation of how to practise oracle commnds in offline mode
i will be really thankful

it means i want to practise sql commnds with respect to oracle syntax, without connecting to any online server
(like in oracle ,one can practise ,by making database on their harddisk,no net connection required )

So the only way is to have a local database and and the easiest way is to download XE as I said in my first post.

This is the Oracle Technology Network site. There's the Download section there, so - take a look what's offered.

Besides, there are "Featured Downloads" on the right upper corner of the homepage; you'll find "Oracle Database XE" there.
