We're looking at converting an existing Clipper/FoxPro system to VB/Oracle. Our existing system has about 20 tables in each of about 200 client directories - a total of 4000 tables and approx 800 MB of data. We would be doing some financial calculations. Does anyone have any war stories they could share? It would be greatly appreciated. We need to give a good estimate about the time it would take to convert the existing system (30,000 lines of Clipper code). Will the basic Oracle DB be fairly easy to work with?
Obviously there's a lot to consider, but any info is appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Don't know much about Clipper/FoxPro. I would tend to approach the problem with another question.

How many lines of code can a typical programmer convert/debug in a day? Usual guesses range around 20-50 (and maybe 100 if you are optimistic and there really isn't much work to do)

Divide 30000 by that number. Optimistically, still sounds like a man year. Happy?
