Hello,

How to Stop all user applications that use the Oracle RAC home directory?

We want to the CPUJAN2009 patching on our RAC database. How to find out what all user applications are using the database and the Oracle RAC Home Directory.

Regards,

Raj

Actually in the Oracle Doc

http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/rac.102/b28759/softpatch.htm#CHDCHIJG ,

they gave while Patching for RAC instances , we need to first shut all the applications using that particular database , then shut the database, ASM and finally the nodeapps.

So, I just wanted to know how do we shut all the applications using that database.

What do you mean by "name of the application"?
How is an application "named"?
Does every application require to have a name?

There is more than one column in v$session.
