We have a large application consisting of almost 100 forms(forms 6i). We need to convert it into 10g. Keeping in mind that this is our first exposure to such migration, we need some help, suggestions, advice...

okay there is a form migration tool available with developer suite 10g. You can use that tool to convert the forms to 10g and then you need to generate .fmx of all those forms.

Hi,

there is tool come with forms developer suite called "Forms Migration Assistant". This is a utility which will scan your files for obsolete usages and correct them where applicable. It will also alert you to any changes you may have to make manually.

and also u need to install and setup the oracle application server, webutil...

so you are going to move 2 tier to 3 tier

Problems faced:-
1. key-enter trigger fmrweb.res key mapping file 27 to 75
2. Report calls modified at the code level (RUN_PRODUCT to RUN_REPORT_OBJECT)
3. instead ico file - v used the gif file
4. created the webutil stuff for client side access
5. Attaching and detaching PLL libraries.

cong' all the best

Hi, I am using the Froms Migration Assistant and I faceing in the logs the problem FRM-10102. It tells me that can´t find a library.

I don´t understand why, I allready set the PATH in the register and in the default.env, and when I run it from the Forms builder it can read the library perfectly, but the assitant does´t. I tried by putting the library in the same file and didn´t work.

Do I have to set another PATH for the Forms Migration Assistant?

I hope some one can help me!!!

Thanks in advances

Try this. Open the Properties panel for the Migration Assitant and place the name of the directory that contains the library in the 'Start in' slot.

Hi David,
Greetings.

When I try to migrate a simple 6i form to 10g, using migration assistant, I am getting the below errors in the log.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
oracle.forms.jdapi.JdapiException:
FRM-10102: Cannot attach PL/SQL library APPCORE. This library attachment will be lost if the module is saved.
FRM-10102: Cannot attach PL/SQL library APPDAYPK. This library attachment will be lost if the module is saved.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have setup FORMS_PATH to refer all the respective libraries. But still I am getting this error.
You mentioned to "open properties panel for the Migration Assitant and place the name of the directory that contains the library in the 'Start in' slot."

Can you tell me:
- from where I can open the properties panel?
- Where I can see the 'Start in' slot.

I am trying the upgrade using "forms migration assistant" wizard mode(GUI)

Kindly help me in this regard.

Thanks,
Sateesh.

Hello

When I try to migrate 300 6i form to 12c, using migration assistant, I am getting the errors in the log indicated the fmb is not writable.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Mary

It sounds like something as simple as that directory is just not writable. Can you run it in interactive mode and try a different directory?
