Dear All:

The database crashed and when we restarted, we see constantly the error message in alert.log that SMON need to recover the undo segment. Querying the dba_rollback_segs also shows one of the undo segment needs recovery.

Now we created another undo Tablespace and set the new one as default. But no advantage. We take the old undo TS offline but some of our tables depend on it other wise we get the ORA-00376: file xx cannot be read at this time.

We put the _offline_rollback_segments=_SYSSMUXXX$ in parameter file and do most of stuffs since olf undo tablespace is online, but dba_rollback_segs still prints that recovery needed.

How we know which tables are still depend on the old Undo Tablespace so we could save those tables and then drop them to release the undo recover status.

Any help, advise, suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Before using any hidden and unsupported parameter, did you just try to recover as Oracle asked you?

Yes We did using the RMAN tablespace recovery. There were no error message on the recovery and completed fine. But DBA_Rollback_Segs still indicate the segment recovery.

Thanks.

As you posted no information of what you did the only thing I can say is that if Oracle says something needs recovery then you didn't recover it.
