Hi,

I have been reading through various docs/blog posts regarding RMAN, however one bit isn't clear

The backup requirements are
1) On a nightly basis, perform FULL backup (the size is fairly small)
2) Point in time recovery is not required. Essentially being able to restore to any of the nightly FULL backups
3) It'll be an online backup

Given the requirements
Is this sufficient ?
backup database include current controlfile;

I've noticed various blogs covering full backups also including archivelogs
What I'm not 100% sure about is whether I should be backing these up or not .. given the recovery requirements.

Would appreciate advice regarding this

Many thanks

You also have to backup the archived logs generated during the backup of the database otherwise you can't get a consistent database (some files are saved at the beginning of the backup and other ones at the end so have not the same datetime).
In your case, why don't you take an offline backup?

Michel
