I have taken cold backup of Database, OS was Windows 2000 Server and Oracle 8.1.5.0 (Enterprise Edition).

I wanted to restore this cold backup in another computer with same OS and Oracle Enterprise Edition with same SID. I have replaced the init.ora file also.

While trying to connect as internal, I am getting the following error:

ERROR:
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

Oracle service is started.

Pls help me.

It sound like a 'password file' issue. You might need to recreate your password file.

First check your parameter file to see if "init.ora file" parameter remote_login_passwordfile is set to EXCLUSIVE. If so, password file is required.

Good luck!

You are right, the problem was in password file.
I replaced the password file(backup) and everything is ok.
Thanks.
