Does anyone know if there is a reporting tool that will report succesful or not backups from the catalog. We have a number of databases that we backup using RMAN using just the one catalog database.

Even a good sript to query the catalog would be very helpful?

You can get all the information from the catalog views like.
rc_backup_set
rc_backup_piece.

depending on on requirement you can design your own.
And a ton of wealthy information / checks are available
from rman command line.
NO BIG DEAL.
State clearly your NEED.
some folks are already working on this.
