Hi,
I am trying to import full database dump of Oracle 8.1.7 in oracle 9.0.2
Do i need to create the table space in Oracle 9i upfront or just import directly using imp utility.Also any other sqls do I need to run before I export the oracle8?(like catexp.sql)
Oralce 8.1.7 is on HPUX and Oralce 9i is Win 2003 server
If you can give me syntax for importing or for pre creating tablespaces,will be of gr8 help

Well, you'll be hard pressed to import into 9.0.2 since there is no version such as that. 9.2.0.1 and higher, yes.

Read the Utilities Guide: http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96652/part1.htm#435787

One easy way is to create the same named (and appropriately sized) tablespaces in the new database and then perform the import. Do you want fromuser/touser, or all? Look at the parameters in the guide.
