hi,
i hav directory called 'kesdlmsweb.war' in that i hav many sub directory and file.now i want to tar the whole 'kesdlmsweb.war' excluding one directory in that 'kesdlmsweb.war' the name of that directory to be excluded is 'courseimports'.so can any one help me how to tar this excluding that file name.its really very urgent plz reply me.thanks in advance.

Do a "man tar" - look at the "exclude-file" option.
