Hi,
whenever i send mail using mailx to any body, in the from field the receiver should see like "Mail from xyz"

can you please assist in this?

Oki so your are getting something like the system name as the sender ?

Use the -r option with mailx if you want to change to someting else.

To change the description of the Unix user sending the email, enter "passwd -g" and follow the prompts.

Thanks a lot for your help. Ijust executed like below

cat xyz|mailx -s "Hi" -r "Shahnaz" xyz@gmail.com

but it is just send a mail with the from like "shahnaz@<system name>....
