I want to run a REXX program on zOS to talk to a remote database (not on zOS). I have seen a posting that refers to invoking program SQLPLUS.. Where can I get that ? IE we do not have Oracle running on zOS, but I need to communicate to a remote database (I have TNSNAMES info). I am trying to see if this is a simple program that can be installed into a private library or if it -must- be installed into an APF library and/or requires an STC (started task) to be running.

I suggest you find some other client s/w that runs on zOS that supports either ODBC or JDBC to access Oracle DB.
